Don't Feel
£250.00
This piece is an abstract representation of the confliciting voices within my childhood family home presented on a 30 × 30 wood panel, framed in black.
Being a child of an alcoholic, my voice was not taken seriously, often smoothed over the next morning to make sure that we, the family, presented a different narrative to the outside world. The contrast in not only colour, but darks and lights and the written word, represent these voices - adult versus child. The name plays on some of the unspoken rules within families of alcoholics: "don't think, don't speak, don't trust, don't feel, don't play"
